Students from the University of Georgia visited the Georgia State Capitol on Tuesday, February 9 for the third annual Dawgs at the Dome. The event, a collaboration between the Student Government Association and the Office of Government Relations, allows students to spend a day interacting with state lawmakers and showcases the university’s many contributions to the state. Legislators, staff, lobbyists and alumni joined President Jere Morehead, Provost Pam Whitten and students in the morning for breakfast.

Governor Nathan Deal and First Lady Sandra Deal attended as well and took pictures and visited with members of the UGA community. The students visited the Senate and House, where they were recognized in both chambers by Sen. Burt Jones (R-Jackson) and Rep. Chuck Williams (R-Watkinsville), respectively, and additional alumni legislators. Alumni involved in the legislative process in a variety of positions answered questions and shared insight with students during a lunchtime panel discussion.
