As the Vice President for Government Relations, I welcome you to the UGA Office of Government Relations.

Our office has primary responsibility for managing and overseeing University relations and communications with leaders in the state, federal, and local governments, as well as with the broader Athens community.

From its founding as the birthplace of public higher education in America, UGA has relied heavily on the trust and support of government leaders in attaining its prominence. Therefore, it is imperative that the institution keep elected officials, policymakers, and others informed and engaged with the many challenges, activities, and successes in fulfilling our three-pronged missions of instruction, service, and research. Our goal is to strengthen relationships between government officials and the UGA family in advancing UGA’s leadership role in addressing the grand challenges of the future.

Thank you for visiting our website. Please contact us if we may be of assistance to you.

Go Dawgs!

Kevin Abernethy,
Vice President for Government Relations
