Contacting Government Officials
The Office of Government Relations (OGR) serves as the principal point of contact between the University of Georgia and local, state, and federal elected officials and their staff. OGR is responsible for ensuring that the University complies with state and federal disclosure laws and requirements set forth in the Federal Lobbying Disclosure Act of 1995 and the Georgia Ethics in Government Act and that the institutional priorities and views of the University are clearly and effectively communicated to elected officials.
For that reason, all UGA faculty and staff contacts with elected officials and their staff should be cleared through the Office of Government Relations before making them, including invitations to campus functions and events. If a UGA employee is contacted by an elected official or staff person for any reason, the employee should notify OGR right away.
